In today’s changing world, change management is a crucial part of the success of any organization. This fast-changing world doesn’t stop for anyone; everything changes in a blink of an eye- techs keep evolving, trends keep changing, and business needs to work with them. If they don’t, they will be gone. Organizations that can’t cope-up with change are either left behind or get completely erased from the market. The ultimate objective of change management is to achieve desired change with the maximum benefits.

The most common & effectively used model in change management is Kotter’s model. This model has 8 steps that are required to create & make a change. They are as follows:-
1. Develop Urgency - Create a sense of urgency for the need for change in an organization. It will help employees to move forward towards the objective. Start honest discussion & provide convincing reasons to them, so they can start thinking & talking about it.
2. Form a Powerful Team - Convincing employees for a change is a hard & difficult task that can not be done without having good leaders. Change needs lead, not management. Create a team from all areas that can guide the organization towards change & ensure that you have all types of people with varied skills, knowledge, & commitment.
3. Create Vision - You can find many ideas & solutions when you start thinking about change. Connect those ideas from the overall vision & spread them to employees. Try to create a clear vision for them so they can understand their work.
4. Transfer Vision - Your success is determined by the implementation of the vision you created. In this step, a clear vision helps you understand why they are doing it and what they are trying to achieve. Apply vision to all aspects of operation & tie everything back to vision.
5. Remove Blocks - Look at the organization structure, job description, & performance to ensure that everything is going as planned. Recognize & reward those employees who are dedicated to change and find those who are slowing down the process & help them understand what they need. In the end, take strict action towards removing blocks.
6. Focus on Short Term Wins - Wins are the best option to motivate your workforce. Divide your ultimate goal into short tasks & work on trying to achieve them one at a time. Every win will inspire your whole workforce to achieve an objective.
7. Build Change - After achieving a quick win, don’t think the change is accepted now. Kotter says that many projects fail just because they felt they achieved a victory. Quick wins are only a part of your ultimate objective; one small win can’t decide the actual achievement.
8. Introduce Change - Make continuous effort so that change can be seen from every aspect of your organization. This will help you make a solid place of change in your organization.
